People with Wheels by Carlos Caminha

1914
I once had dreams of becoming an artist, I once did a ink drawing of a person with wheels as feet. So i was so happy to see this drawing on the Moleskine Project page. Mine of course was crap, these are amazing! I wonder if Charlton and the Wheelies, had an impression on him too?
See more Carlos Caminha blog Café, grafite, gasolina ...

Euphemisms

Language and its effect on how we think and behave has always fascinated me, for example how some a tribe in the Amazon have loads of words for the colour green, as it is important for survival but when shown something red and orange, they appeared to be the same object, and not being able to distinguish between he two. (I have not included and facts the original article was in the new scientist, I will have to dig it out)
And I hate when people talk around problems, for example a classic Monty Python scene in The Life of Brian when the Peoples front of Judea are called to action, but cant do anything until a motion has been drawn up. It reminds me of various experiences of political bodies and organizations that continually cloud real problems with words. So today my call to action is to watch this clip by George Carlin and laugh.

Photographic Grass

Wimbledon artwork by Heather Ackroyd & Dan Harvey for HSBC. Ad agency: JWT London. Exec Creative director: Russell Ramsey. Creative director: Axel Chaldecott. Art director: Mark Norcutt. Copywriter: Laurence Quinn

Grass used as photographic paper, a stunning idea. And I like the temporary aspect.

Food For Design

"A food product has a specific flavour because of a combination of different flavours. Like basil taste like basil because of the combination of linalool, estragol, …. So if I want to reconstruct the basil flavour without using any basil, you have to search for a combination of other food products where one contains linalool (like coriander), one contains estragol (like tarragon),... So I can reconstruct basil by combining coriander, tarragon, cloves, laurel. The way to use it is to take from each branch of the plot one product and make a combination of those food products."

This site is inspiring, check out the food for design blog it contains amazing food design/recipes. I particularly like the photography.
