Dogging and Voyeurism
I love the work of Japanese documentary photographers. I was excited to discover the work of Kohei Yoshiyuki over a year ago when the New York Times published an article about a series of photographs called "the Park" The art of surveillance has been growing in popularity.
Today found this article in Trend Hunter about Steven Meisel's racy fashion editorial shoot for V Magazine.
There is a big difference, there is no nudity in Yoshiyuki's work. His work taken in parks in Japan in the 70's. Kohei's work talks about the act of voyeurism and makes us self aware that we are taking part, Steven Meisel's work is voyeuristic.

Arguments
Found on Top Ten Website. Top 10 Arguments That Can’t Be Won I particularly like this one because it is the time approaching the festive period where every activity can lead to a dilemma or argument. Do I buy into the bullshit, or tell my son Father Christmas does not exist. Do I invite my parents around, or tell them that God does not exist.

Philosophy 'existing' in YouTube
This is a video of some men in tows dancing and chanting, with a happy Ibiza tune over the top. I find it fascinating to watch, this is a example of stripping the original context in a successful way to make a conceptual object. If you needed evidence that the brain contains priori templates for judgments, this would be a good example.(Thanks to Harve for sending me this)

Thanks to Helen for passing this video on to me, from her colleges at The Pervasive Media Studio who work with projections. "A week or so ago they performed in Bruxelles, for Nuit Blanche Bruxelles. Joanie had produced some content , along with Legoman who performed live on the night" (Helen)
Would love to see this stuff live, the video is fantastic, keep watching.

The Do Lectures
Do one thing
Visit the Do site. (www.thedolectures.com)
And then forward one talk on to a friend. (The talks are amazing by the way)
That's all we need you to Do.
Word of the mouth will hopefully Do the rest.
Right now The Do Lectures has had 17,276 visits from 107 countries/territories.
People from 2,576 cities have gone there.
To get a sponsor I reckon we need to get 100,000 visitors.
I also reckon between us we can get there within two weeks.
That would make The Do Lectures one of the most watched online lectures in the world.
So every single visit will count.
Do help if you can.

People with Wheels by Carlos Caminha
I once had dreams of becoming an artist, I once did a ink drawing of a person with wheels as feet. So i was so happy to see this drawing on the Moleskine Project page. Mine of course was crap, these are amazing! I wonder if Charlton and the Wheelies, had an impression on him too?

Euphemisms
Language and its effect on how we think and behave has always fascinated me, for example how some a tribe in the Amazon have loads of words for the colour green, as it is important for survival but when shown something red and orange, they appeared to be the same object, and not being able to distinguish between he two. (I have not included and facts the original article was in the new scientist, I will have to dig it out)
And I hate when people talk around problems, for example a classic Monty Python scene in The Life of Brian when the Peoples front of Judea are called to action, but cant do anything until a motion has been drawn up. It reminds me of various experiences of political bodies and organizations that continually cloud real problems with words. So today my call to action is to watch this clip by George Carlin and laugh.

Food For Design
"A food product has a specific flavour because of a combination of different flavours. Like basil taste like basil because of the combination of linalool, estragol, …. So if I want to reconstruct the basil flavour without using any basil, you have to search for a combination of other food products where one contains linalool (like coriander), one contains estragol (like tarragon),... So I can reconstruct basil by combining coriander, tarragon, cloves, laurel. The way to use it is to take from each branch of the plot one product and make a combination of those food products."
This site is inspiring, check out the food for design blog it contains amazing food design/recipes. I particularly like the photography.
